Who's here to welcome you?
Her Name is Veera, though many people just call her Vekku. Her age is somewhere between thirty and forty years old. Vekku is a wilderness guide, a youth and recreation instructor, and a carpenter. She's tried all sorts of things over the years, but mostly she seems happiest in the forest - or in the chicken coop. Or in the stable, the kayak, on horseback, in a tent, under a lean-to, splashing in the mud, in the fells, or anywhere she can find nature, animals, the scent of the marsh, summer evenings, rain, sunshine, cheerful laughter, and new adventures.
She lives in Hiltulanlahti, in the south of Kuopio. Vekku's house is a small gray house in the middle of the forest on the edge of the Vanuvuori nature reserve. Inside, thought it's anything but grey - both house and its residents. There you'll find all sorts of characters: furry, not-so-furry, funny, cute and kind. Children and adults, cats, rabbits, chickens, sheep, a couple of horses and the like.
She has ADHD, but luckily these days things like that are seen as amazing individual traits and strengths! Vekku is also very familiar with the autism spectrum, as well as other forms of neurodivergence in life. It's real blessing that unhurried time in nature, close to animals, helps in so many ways to cope with everyday life with these unique traits!
